The largest landowner in Maine, Plum Creek has
submitted an application to the
Maine Land Use Regulation Commission for a massive development of their land in and around the
Moosehead Lake region. This development proposal would allow for 975 house lots, two destination lodges,
a marina, four sporting camps, three recreational-vehicle parks, and a golf course. It also provides for
a permanent easement for snowmobile and hiking trails, 30 year conservation easements around many pristine
ponds, and land for a low-income housing development near Greenville.
